within 10 seconds of my computer logging in it freezes and i have to force restart only to come back to the same problem also happens when im logging sometimes ive ruled out it being a faulty graphics card and the mother board or even a corrupted OS... anyone know a fix for this?

Try removing the card from the board. If your PC works, then it's definetly the card and you should RMA or get a new one. If you remove it and it doesn't work, it could be a different problem like:

1. bad hard drive
2. corrupted OS
3. power issue (PSU failing)
4. motherboard failure
5. cpu failure
6. monitor failure
7. bad monitor cable

have you tried updating the bios of your mohterboard?

could it be overheating?

did you recently install the 290?

what are your specs other than the 290?

do you have any cpu overclocks?

have you tried running memtest86 to check your RAM? http://www.memtest86.com/

have you tried clearing your bios(this most likely won't help but it's worth a go!)

please upload a few pictures of the inside of your case(so that I may rule out stupid/silly mistakes)

I had a problem similar to this, updating my bios helped, so be sure to try that(i know i already told you just trying to add importance to it! :))... if this does not work it very well might be a faulty cpu/ram

Everything works great, i re installed the os, i doubt it would be my psu because when i use the igd on my motherboard it works just fine, it could be my cpu thats the only part i haven replaced yet and the monitor cable is also fine. But i cant get my Video card to work at all :/ ive been to frys about 8 times replacing parts and what not

Im having troubles posting a picture of my rig :/ but anyways my Bios is currently the newest as far as i know, Over heating is very unlikely because the temp seems to be stable when ever im using it and yes i recently installed the 290. I believe it has an overclock setting but i dont dare to touch it.
MotherBoard- MSI A88x-G45 gaming
My processor: AMD A10-7850k radeon r7
OS: Windows 8.1 64bit
RAM:Viper DDR3 2x4 8gb
PSU:evga 850 B2
Hardrive: WD Black 1TB
(i believe thats everything besides my graphics card)

so then you upgraded your graphics card and then it suddenly started exhibiting these problems? what parts have you replaced so far?

Just to confirm you have connected the pci-e power cable to the graphics card, correct?

have you tried moving the graphics card to the other slots on the motherboard?

if you are able too RMA your cpu it might be worth giving a try, other than that RAM is a viable cannidate, so be sure to run the memtest86

I built this computer myself, Yes the power cords are plugged properly otherwise there would be red light on it. Theres only one other slot and its right above the battery also its a really bulky graphics card so idk if it would fit but im not sure what RMA is please explain??
Also do i just hit download on the memtest?

RMAing is when you send the defective part back to the company and they replace it under warranty. there should be instructions, you have to run it through bios(like you need to boot off a usb that has the memtest intstalled on it, there should be a usb option)

Before i go ahead and swap graphics cards could it be that its a bad hdmi? or would that not cause this issue? Im just making sure theres nothing more that i can do for it thanks for all the help as well

So just to try another thing out i put my video card into a different pci slot and everything seems to be running ok but i dont know if its actually using the card for visuals so idk if it works..... also i noticed written next to the original pci slot has dual graphics written next to it do i need to do anything for that in bios?
