I have a FX 8350 running at stock clock with a cooler master hyper 212 evo and Asus M5A97 R2.0 MOBO. When i start up my PC it says in BIOS the cpu is about 34°C, however when i open up hwmonitor the reading for the CPU is about 28°C and it is the same in speed fan aswell. Why are these temps different?? I put my cpu to 90% load and hwmonitor said it was 50°C. I want to make sure that it is giving me accurate readings. Btw i was taking the temp from hwmonitor as the mobo cpu temp as the fx 8350 bit only shows the package temp which fluctuates between 5°C and 200°C on load!!

i don't see why a 10C-20C core temperature would be unreasonable 😀

if you run a stress test or run some demanding games like BF4, i'm sure you'll see the temperature rise over time.
the BIOS is most likely reading the CPU socket temperature not the CPU's core temperature like HWmonitor does but, it's odd that the temps reach even 200C which would mean your CPU is dead on the spot.

try using like CoreTemp or RealTemp to check for your temperatures and make sure there are no other temp monitoring software open in the background except for one of those.

where do you live? what's the temperature inside the room your PC is in?
