My book mac and pc

Hello,
I have a WD 750MB My Book that has worked well on my PC for years. I just purchased a Mac Book Pro for my wife, and decided to hook the My Book up to the mac so that Itunes could move over her music. That transfer process worked very well. When I connected the My Book back up to my PC, my PC seems to ignore it now. It it like it doesn't exist. I have connected the My Book using USB on multiple ports, but my computer doesn't see it. Any suggestions?

Update: Once I unplugged the My Book and plugged it back up, my computer saw the device. Everything is good now, but it did have me worried for a while
