I've checked the forums and tried a few things. It shows in device manager, but won't allow me to make changes. I've tried removing the driver and reinstalling, same issue. It worked fine yesterday and I have spent two hours trying to make this work using different suggestions in the forum. Ran Life Guard and it says it passed... Please help!

Solution
Ok:

Run "cmd.exe" as admin
type "diskpart", hit enter
type "list disk", hit enter
type "select disk X" (where X is the corresponding external hard drive in the list - if are unsure, select a disk and then type "disk detail" ), hit enter - rinse & repeat if it's the wrong drive.
*Once you've hit "select disk X" on the correct drive
**If the disk shows as "offline" type "online disk", hit enter. If it shows "online", skip this step.**

type "clean", hit enter
type "create partition primary", hit enter.
type "exit", hit enter.

You should now be good to go. You may have to initialize in Disk Management (shouldn't, but may)
It's a couple years old, but I've never had any issues with it.

When I try to go and change the letter in disk management, it says I need to Initialize Disk, but when I try it says it's write protected.
