My brand new computer is very slow

I posted my issue on reddit and didn't get very many useful responses. I don't feel like rewriting the post so you can find my original post here. I have good hardware, I don't know if it is slow because I am only using a 650w, or I only have an i5, or maybe it is slow online because I have a bad wifi card(my computer is slow offline too). My internet is good, I know that because I use my lightning fast Macbook while I try to fix my new PC.

Then you did not properly Assemble your CPU Cooler. There must some sort of Gap remains between Chipset & Cooler slot. Make sure that by re-assemble it.

Since you have a K [overclocking processor], buy a cheap Good Quality Air Cooler like Cryorig H7 or CM 212X EVO.

Update the bios of your motherboard and it should be fine. The CPU you have is a haswell refresh, which your motherboard normally don't recognize correctly right out of the box. Update it inside of the bios, don't flash in Windows!


If not, check that the push pins of the Intel stock cooler are correctly installed and fixated. Does the fan of the cooler spin?
