I built a new pc for Christmas this year and for some reason when I play games like R6 or DOOM Eternal it likes to restart completely.... I checked the temperatures and did a stress test and everything was normal... I am new into the pc world and I am not sure where to begin looking... I have read a lot about my psu being bad but I wanted some other opinions

yeah when it comes to random restarts the psu is usually the prime suspect, and id prioritize it quick because keeping a busted psu and using the pc can lead to it harming your other parts.

If the psu is the problem, then there's nothing you can do besides replacing it.

In the meantime:
-Double check all of your connections - make sure none of the plugs are loose and the ram is fully seated in the slot.

-Run the System File Checker: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026529/windows-10-using-system-file-checker

-Scan your memory with Memtest86 free version: https://www.memtest86.com/
It can take a few hours to complete, so run it overnight. The results should be error-free, and with no system hangs or crashes.

-Do a clean install of your gpu drivers with Display Driver Uninstaller: https://www.wagnardsoft.com/
Afterwards, install the latest recommended driver from Nvidia's website.

-Update the motherboard's drivers as well as the bios.

That ought to cover most of the bases... if still no dice, then the psu likely has to go.

I don't want to add another topic but I have the same kinds of problems with my new build (first one).

Build in January

MSI X570-A Pro MB
Ryzen 7 3800X CPU
DEEPCOOLl Castle 240 RGB
ASUS AMD Dual-RX5700-08G-EVO GPU
Seasonic Focus PX-650 PSU
G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB
2xSSD M.2 + 1 Regular HD

Crash on more demanding GPU game. Crash during 3D Mark stress test (Time Spy) after 5 to 10 minutes in it.

Each time CPU temps are under 45.0

The GPU crash at 74-80 degrees. With GPU-Z.2.30.0 up, I got mem temps at 80-84 just before crash.

Everything around is fine. Last drivers, no error in memtest86+.

How can I know if it's the GPU or the PSU who fail?

To had on top, ASUS recommanded a 600w PSU for this GPU. With this build, could my 650w be to short when I'm on more demanding game?
