My brand new powerful PC lags

I am having real trouble running games on my powerful PC. The first game I downloaded was beam NG on steam. This game could not run even on the lowest quality settings (it runs on surface pro 3 well). I then tried gang beasts which is not a very graphics demanding game. It also could not run on lowest settings. I am not sure what to do, please help...

GPU: ASUS Strix GeForce GTX 960
MOTHERBOARD: Asus P9x79
HDD: 3 TB
POWER SUPPLY: Corsair 750

Sounds like you didn't install the drivers properly. Go to the nvidia website and download the newest Win8 drivers.

I just downloaded the win 8 drivers and after my computer restarted and now it is stuck on a green screen (which is the colour I chose when I first got my pc). It is frozen and it stays like this for a long time, what do I do?

Sounds like there are far more problems than just that.

If possible, you should properly reinstall Windows. After reinstalling, download the drivers for all your parts. After that, run windows update until you have no more updates. Only then can you install anything else. That should prevent future issues.
