My Budget Build

If you could OC the processor it would play BF4 as well as the intel i5 with that same graphics card
Unfortunately other hardware choices make that difficult . The motherboard will also cap hard drive transfer speeds too .
If that price is capped then I would do something like this

The motherboard is from a second tier manufacturer but it uses the 970 chipset and will let you get more out of the processor .
For $10 more I would use the asrock extreme 4

A better cpu cooler would let you OC . You might find a stock cooler for an FX 8 core if you look . Many peeople will have them spare if they have added an aftermarket cooler . Then you could easily get 4.2 Ghz

your better off using a skylake mb and a cheap skylake cpu to start then replace the cpu when you have the funds.

i agree with the psu, if you can get that antec its better quality. although the coresair cx wouldnt be a problem for a short term build. Here's an idea, if your building an intel build later, why not just get a motherboard that supports that intel cpu, and drop in an i3 or 3258 until then.

Interesting , but impractical since the processor is not available and not included in that price

Performance is so far below the AMD option its not worth considering for any reason

Between the 2 recommendations go for the intel one.No point having a full amd system that you are going to change when you buy the i7.The performance diff is not that big(fx6300 owner here) to justify a full amd system going to waste.Go g3258 and
change to i7 when possible.

I'm going to be using this build until I can afford my new rig. When I'm done with this budget build, I'm going to give it to my brother as a Christmas present. So I won't be using it as an upgradable pc, I'll have to start a whole new one. But thanks for the opinions everyone! Helps out a lot :)

well yeah it is worth considering as a short term option, then he has everything he needs for the 4790k and just needs to swap out the cpu. Seemed a total waste to get an AMD build only to change for an intel build. But yeah, since the info we have now is that the rig is going to his brother then yeah, you would go with the more powerful option rather than the easy upgrade option. Either way i'd still get an i3 build, which performs as well as the fx 6300 and can be upgraded to an i5/i7 later.

I cant see why you would build with socket 1150 . Its outdated and on the wrong side of the move to DDR4 . Anything you spend on socket 1150 is never going to be usable again

You suggesting the 4790k is getting outdated? Would skylake be a better option?

I'll have a budget of around 3 to 3.5k for my Stormtrooper Build. Could you put some parts together for me? Or tell me what I should get?
