CPU: Intel Pentium G3258
GPU: MSI AMD R9 380X
Mobo: Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Intel LGA1150 Z97 ATX
RAM: HyperX FURY Series 8GB (2x 4GB) DDR3 1866MHz
SSD: Crucial BX200 240GB 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive

This is my dedicated gaming PC build. This build comes up to 500e not including PSU, case or any external hardware which is around the price I'm willing to spend for these components.
I would love if you guy could share any input on possible better options I might have overlooked. I went for the best reasonably priced GPU and skimped on the CPU as I have heard the G3258 is fine for gaming (especially considering the OC potential), at least for now.
Motherboards I don't know much about but I hastily chose a well priced Z97 one as it is a relatively new chipset.
Some specific questions I would like to ask are:

  • Will there be any significant bottlenecking of the GPU by the CPU?
Are the components I chose optimally compatible ?
What PSU wattage should I safely look into. Specific PSU recommendations are appreciated.
Will there be any good upgrade options for the CPU considering it uses the LGA-1150 socket ? I don't want to have to buy a new mobo when I just want a faster CPU.
Thanks 😀

I would upgrade that pentium to a i3 6100 at least or an entry level i5. That pentium will end up slowing you down and you would have to upgrade from it sooner than if you when with the i3 or i5. Here is a build I just put together it is the new skylake chip line with DDR4 and with just a regular 1tb hdd http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FWX7mG

edit: Plus if you want you can use pcpartpicker.com to help you build it has a built in compatibility checker so you will know what parts work with one another and gives you an estimated wattage needed.

I think the general advice is steer clear of Pentium G's as they are dual core and some games simply won't run with less than 4 cores now. You won't be helping yourself for the future.

Drop to the 380 and put the money toward an i5? even a non-K will be much, much better.
