1.Get a GTX 970 instead of the 780. It is much better, quieter, cooler AND cheaper!
2.You cannot overclock, so no need for the heatsink. Use the stock heatsink.
3.You cannot overclock (again) so no use of the Z97 motherboard. Get any H97 motherboard for your build. This will cost you less.

I would suggest you to keep the MB and get a 4690k, and also what people said replace the gpu to 970

-970/980
-Remove heatsink as its not needed and will save lots of ££
-Put saved money into more RAM or a higher rated psu (personally use the cx series and like it) but try get a gold or higher
-and maybe downgrade to h97 to save some money if you want

as I understand he has a gaming build, so why using more than 8ram? also I think in terms of gaming it might be better for him to get a 4690k and to overclock it, I don't see many benefits with that +4 threads.

It is basically a 4770, your not able to overclock, but basically it will run cooler, as it dosent have internal gpu, and he said he does video editing and photoshop which eat ram for breakfast, plus games are starting to use loads of ram nowadays, and its been mentioned that in the next year or so, we will start to see more cores being utilized in games, and again, he does video editing... so there is a point in it

did he mentioned video editing well then my bad, but anyway it isnt even near as strong having real physical cores, why not getting a6 core if video editing is important? you cant kill two birds with one shot... from the gpu choise i understood his main goal was gaming.

Im not totally sure, hopefully he can correct us, but ive heard really good things about that xeon, plus it costs £80 less than the 4770, and only 10-20 more than the 4670.. while getting far better gaming performance at stock!

I was looking for a 6 core processer, particularly the 4930k but at $600 I'm on a budget of around 1200? Any suggestions?

get a 6 core. you can cut alittle on the gpu and get a r9 270x or 280x instead of 970, don't worry you will be able to game on high settings!
your main goal is to get a 6 core cpu and 16GB of RAM
Intel core i7 5820k
solid Z97 MB
SSD
r9 280x
I believe 600w should be enough
ofcourse you should get a mechanical hard disk.
aCPU AIR COOLER acase and that pretty much it.

total GROSS number would be 1200-1400$

If you live near a Micro Center, you can get the 5820K for $299. The only reason to go with a 5930K is if you're running tri-SLI or quad SLI.

The FX 8350 is good for video editing. It is basically an i5 in gaming, but in video editing the extra cores can really be put to use.
