Hey everyone my name is josh and im a sort of noob when it comes to pc things. i used to own a xbox 360 and i want to get the same sort of graphics and a reasonsable Frame rate.

This is my build

Case- CiT Venom Black ATX Midi PC Gaming Case
Mobo- Asus M5A78L-M/USB3
CPU- AMD FX 4100
GPU- AMD R7 240
PSU - Corsair Builder Series CX430 80+ Bronze 430W Power Supply PSU

Do you think i could run games like GTA 5 at xbox 360 settings?

Solution

The time to ask questions is BEFORE you buy.

That said, Just go with what you bought.
Unless you can return parts easily, you will lose too much by selling.

The combination of cpu and gpu is what determines your gaming performance.
The R7-240 is an entry level card, not really suited for gaming.

The FX-4100 is ok as an entry level cpu...
The only issue I'll take with that is that overclocking is a crapshoot. I have two Pentium G3258 for my motherboard testing. One of them is not stable over 4.0GHz, while the other does 4.2GHz easily (I've not tried higher).
Still, the Pentium looked to be far enough ahead that even with a meager 4.0GHz overclock, it will blow the Athlon away. Also worth noting is that it will use a lot less power doing it. Furthermore, it is not necessary to waste money on a Hyper212 EVO; the Pentium comes with a relatively capable stock cooler.

i do have a copy of windows 7 and i have already brought the CPU, RAM and GPU. and my budget for the rest of the parts is £200 if you think i should sell a part like the GPU and buy a better one i will take it into consideration.

The RAM is probably okay. It would be nice to have 8GB, but is not essential. I'd sell the CPU and GPU both. A Pentium G3258 on a modest H81 or B85 board would be much stronger. A R7 250X or GTX750 would be a better starting point for a gaming GPU.
The article geofelt linked would be a good read.

The FX-4100 is ok as an entry level cpu; somewhat similar to the X4-860K compared in the linked article. But, upgrading to a 6 core FX buys you extra cores that do not help much.
Moreover, the motherboard is OK, but not suitable for a FX8 upgrade or overclocking.

The psu is a tier 3 unit on this list:

If you ever want to upgrade graphics, I would buy a tier 1 or 2 unit in the 550-650w range.
Seasonic, xfx, antec for starters.

You can buy a cheap case if you want; it will function perfectly well.
But... A case will be with you for a long tome so I suggest buying one you love.
For M-ATX, I highly recommend a Silverstone TJ-08E or PS07.
