My C drive and D drive are mixed up.

I purchased an Acer Aspire E5-575G a little over a year ago and have been using it without a hitch ever since. However I recently noticed I am short on Hard Drive space and when I went into My Computer to look, it shows my (C: ) drive as having 50gb free of 120g, and my (D: ) drive labeled "Backup" has over 900gb free of 979gb. There is no way this laptop came with a 100gb hard drive... why is my backup almost a terabyte and completely unused? Is there any way to take advantage of the almost 1 Terabyte of free space on the D drive or do I now need to buy an external hard drive? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

A 120GB C drive, probably an SSD, is completely normal if paired with a 1TB HDD, you D drive.

To use? You just have to start putting things on that mostly empty D drive.
Things that don't need the SSD speed.

Yeah it seems your right, I took a look at my drives and my C is a SSD while my D is a 1tb HDD. So technically can i start downloading programs and games on my D drive and use them without a problem ? For some reason I thought if i were to download a game on that D drive that I wouldn't be able to load it up and play.

Steam games can absolutely be run from more than one drive.

Settings
Downloads
Steam Library Folders
Add library folder

To move an already installed game
Games library
Right click the game
Properties
Local Files
Move Install Folder

That system came with a 128 gig SSD and a 1 TB mechanical hard drive. So the numbers you are seeing are correct.
