hey everyone here is what i picked for my pc.

motherboard - GIGABYTE GA-MA790X-UD4P AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 790X ATX AMD Motherboard = $109.99

graphic card- XFX Radeon HD4850 512MB XXX Edition PCI-Express Video Card = $129.99 after rebate $109.99

psu- already have its a corsair 550watt

everything else i got. But those are the main parts that i picked.

what you all think?

total is 427 and that gives me some money to buy a nice cpu cooler and overclock it :)

you missed this
550 + Asus mb combo that saves you $30

but you also missed this
720 be + ASUS M4A78T-E AM3 AMD 790GX AM3 mb for
which also saves you $30 and gves you an AM3 platform mb
You'd need DDR3 ram in this mb
I used the Giga UD4P in a recent build and it is a nice motherboard. Your original build is a good one, it's just that we'd be remiss if we didn't point out other deals or options that you might go for at about the same budget. We're just doing our jobs!

Yeah you definitely did yourself in the butt on this one.

You could have gotten better stuff for less money.

With the money you could have saved buying a combo could have practically upgraded to a 4870 for free :)

well originally i was gonna go with the phenom 2 x4 940 with that setup but then decided that i dont really need a quad core i mean i dont do anything thats gonna need 4 cores so then i decided to go with the phenom 550 also saved me some money by doing that. now i can buy a nice cpu cooler for it and overclock it. Cuz i mostly just play games and search the web, burn movies, download shyt, and stuff like that. I dont really use any big softwares that would put a huge load on my pc. you know so then why go with the quad. thanks for deal comobs it never hurts to take a look :)
Its all about personal choice and one size does not fit all .

But be aware the FEATURES of the mb you are buying . You are paying a premium so understand what you are getting for the money . Do you definitely need those features?

As far as reviews , well all gigabyte boards will be built with the same quality components .
For under $500 that's a dang good job. Just a few months ago a rig with such a budget would be more constrained to a board with a single PCI-E slot and a less capable CPU. I recommend getting a Rifle cooler to help you overclock that CPU and also some thermal silver.

well the good thing about your build is that you might be able to unlock the other cores on your 550...which would be freaking sweet! lol

Stick to the build you said....... IT is great! Unlock that quad and be done with it.

A good AM2/AM3 cooler is the Thermal Take Spin-Q.

7750 BE @ 3.0 - 24C idle - 38c load
PII 940 @ 3.8 - 35c idle - 47 load
PII 810 @ 3.5 - 30c idle - 45 load
PII 955 @ 3.2 - 28c idle - 42 load

All these are with Spin-Q

ight thanks and also how do i know if my memory is running at 1066 i bought one thats 1066 just how do i know if its running at 1066 and also what are some good temp programs i have speed fan cpu z hw monitor and easy tune 6 and all of them show diff temeratures from each other. Accept speed fan and hw monitor has close temps. for now i believe hw monitor but if u have any other good ones that be great and ones that work for sure. Also how can i regulate the fan rpms i connected straight to the motherboard and the fan has 3 wires coming out so im guessing ones is for speed control and what software can i use to do that.

thanks everyone
