My Computer Freezes Frequently! Need help.

Hi, Guys, I have Dell inspiron 580s and I had bought it in july 2010. Everything goes fine, But from this month I have notice that My desktop screen freezes when I surf the internet or browsing my files and folders. But My main concern is that when My pc get freezes, Only monitor will remain open and everything automatically shut downs including CPU. I am really scared that my Motherboard start dying? Kindly help me. My system configuration is as follows:-

PC- Dell inspiron 580s
Processor:- Intel i3 2.9 GHz.
RAM:- 4GB DDR3
HDD:- Seagate 500Gb 7200rpm
OS:- Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

Kindly help me Its really urgent for me and I am really scared of it.

So your saying the screen atays up and you cant do anything? It could be a number of issues. Best bet is to update everything using intels site and check on hps site for updates as well.

Freezing can be caised by drivers, bad power supply etc.

Thanks for your prompt reply. I have all the drivers updated even bios. There is no problem with it. Do you have any other idea, why this happens. By the way Its a DELL System.

when you start your computer, at the dell logo , start tapping f12 and then choose the option "Diagnostics".When you press enter on that option , you will see a screen that says "Pre boot system assessment", its a hardware diagnostics scree, . let the test run and see if any errors come up, if at all any errors come up, then call up dell and report the error code, if at all the test fails then its something to do with the drivers or the OS

i would suggest checking perhaps older gpu drivers since i had similar problem with my old pc and they turned out to be my nvidia drivers, so you could try older ones otherwise you can also run hdd error check
