My computer freezes intermittently.

My computer has started to freeze intermittently and apparently for no reason. Sometimes it'll freeze shortly after boot up, sometimes it'll work for several hours, but never more than 24 hours. I have made no changes to hardware or software. My equipment is a Compaq desktop with an AM37 salsa mobo, running win xp, & only 15GB used on a 160GB hdd. It has 2GB of memory.

try to run a memtest

I have run a memtest and all is OK.

can you run a hdd scan? like plug the hard drive into a different computer and run hdtune?

I have run western digital's hdd diagnostic & all is ok.
