My computer I build keeps freezing on me

So I just built a gaming computer and I'm a not very tech-savvy. I had a friend help me to make sure I connected everything correctly. What should I do?

I read your post before the thread, and I was about to comment on how bad of a response that was to a thread, then I read the thread. Now I realize, that's a good response haha.

I'd like to know when it's freezing.. is it freezing during POST? Is it freezing a few minutes after you get into the Windows interface? When you try to log in? When you launch a certain program? When you get to the Windows loading screen? When you go to a certain website? Without more info, I will go ahead and address about two out of two hundred of the likely causes of the problem:

For a new build, it could be a bad install of Windows. Try to reinstall. It could also be bad RAM, it could be bad CPU, it could be bad GPU. Could be a bad hard drive also. Download Core Temp and MSI Afterburner (links in description). Generally speaking if the temps are above 50 after you download Core Temp, there's probably a problem (assuming that the program is all you're running). Afterburner shouldn't be reporting higher than maybe 60 when you open it. Other possibilities can be explored with more information regarding the issue. Try what I said and tell me what the temps say.

Edit: For future reference, you will learn that it really annoys computer techs when you say something such as "my computer is slow help me fix it" or "my computer is freezing what's wrong?" We need to know when it's freezing and other things that can help us, not just the symptom. The symptom of freezing can be caused by literally thousands if not tens of thousands of things.

I am running Windows 7 Home Professional. The unversity's internet malware won't let me download alcpu's program. I am downloading the afterburner now.

When I am running the games I am playing (League of Legends and Star Wars The Old Republic, the sound begins to stutter and everything freezes and I cannot click, ctrl+alt+delete, nothing.

MY GPU Temp is 1 degree Celsius. That doesn't make sense to me because that is super cold, but that's what it reads.

No problem, just figured I should tell you that more info usually helps.

So, judging by this. The first thing I would advise is making sure all of your drivers are updated. Chipset drivers, and especially NVIDIA drivers.

You can find all motherboard drivers here, which I suggest downloading most:

Main ones you want to look at would be Chipset. When you click the dropdowns, the ones at the top are the most up to date. You always want to click "Global" to download you DON'T want to use "Global (DLM)" as it's their download manager and it doesn't seem to work very well.

Very odd. I will get back to you on that after you do what I just posted. It very well could be a video card issue, but we will explore that possibility after updating those drivers.

I ran the nvidia update and am downloading the motherboard update. The sound card downloads the driver update in an .rar format that I am not familiar with and how to run.

I just remembered that I had run the update on my graphics card before but I switched ports the other day to put in my sound card in. That may be the answer but I will keep you updated. Thank you for your patience and help!

No problem. RAR can be opened by 7zip which I highly suggest you get, it's commonly used for opening zipped files.

So my computer was running fine for a bit and now it keeps freezing on me again. Sometimes it clicks when it freezes during the middle of a League of Legends match. It also sometimes freezes without clicking. My computer has frozen during Skype as well. I took out the sound card thinking it was interfering with something but nothing changed so that's not it.

I have run the chipset driver and have done one for the sound part of the motherboard as well. I have yet to do a reinstall of windows 7 but that might be my next step.

Update:
Reinstallation of Windows did not help. I have installed all relevant drivers for my motherboard and video card.
