Hi there, i bought an old pre-built system from a friend a couple of years back, and it worked great for a while,
upgrading it up along the way.
The pre-built was a Packard Bell iXtreme i6803. It featured an i5 2300, 12gb of DDR3 memory and i do not know what motherboard it had. Over the years i upgraded only the gpu cards jumping around from AMD to Nvidia. For Christmas this year i decided to spoil myself by buying a whole new motherboard, cpu, and ram. I upgraded to an i5 8400 (6cores), a MSI B360 Gaming Pro Carbon, and 8gb of Corsair vengance lpx low profile memory, keeping only the hard drive from the old pre-built (Western Digital Blue 1TB)
My issue is that windows is not picking up 2 of my cores. Its only recognizing 4 (my new cpu does not support hyperthreading). I have gone to msconfig and and it did not recognize the other 2 cores. Neither in task manager. I downloaded a cpu unparker and there too it did not recognize 2 cores (recognizing 4/6) The thing is, in device manager it picks up the 6 cores. What should i do?
Please help me, invested alot of money in this build
,
thanks for your time
