My computer is shutting down like It's been unplugged for no known explanation.

So for about one year now I've had my computer 😀. For the whole duration of this time it has also been shutting off randomly! 😡
I run Windows 8 with 3GB of ram (not a ton, I know) a dual core 2 Hz-ish processor (I'd check but I can't get it to boot up) and an R-7770 Gpu. Whenever I play anything like DOTA, Starforge, or Planitary Anihalation it shuts down like someone pulled the plug. It runs Minecraft, Starcraft 2, and anything small just fine (what's with starcraft? How come that runs ok?) Anyhow, I've checked my task manager as I'm playing games that make it crash, and generally nothing is being too overused. Ex: When I play dota everything is below 50%. I checked 3 seconds before it crashed. Nite I can't get it to boot up again. I've tried cleaning it (all of the nooks and crannies), I checked the fans, the temperature (the cpu was a bit hot, but I let it sit for an hour and it still won't turn on) and I've tried to see if it's giving me an error message (it doesn't ever get that far before crashing again) but to no avail. That's why I'm here, any ideas?

Solution
It's really a thermal or psu issue as boosted1g mentioned.

1. Thermal issue: it's possible that ur cpu temps are skpiking randomly depending the load/work and applied thermal paste or ur stock fan has poor touch with the chip all along. - simply try reapplying paste and clean of the heatsink throughly and make sure it's fan is in good shape too...not a noisy fan.

2. If that doesn't solve it then it's ur psu. Sometimes having a branded psu is not necessarily an assurance that it can't be faulty. It might be overheating itself and causing to shut down randomly. I had same experience with one of my psu a few years back after i changed psu everything was fine. So, try getting a different psu to check if that's the problem.
You either have a thermal issue or a power issue, from what you said about having to leave it off for an hour sounds like a thermal issue.

What is your power supply (make and model not just how many watts it says on the sticker).

Do you have stock cooler on it? Have you removed the cooler from the cpu semi recently?

It couldn't be a thermal issue, everything was cooled off by that point. As for power, that is my strong point. I've got a XFX TS550. I checked to see what my computer would need, upped the amount of used usb drives by 6 and added another 50 watts to be on the safe side.

If by a stock cooler you mean the fan directly above the cpu, yes to both. (Not entirely computer literate)

Solution
OMG!!! My brother didn't tell me about thermal paste o.o I thought it was some dust that got stuck in between the stock cooler and the cpu (this cpu has seen a lot, I'd imagine it's at least 6-8 years old) thank you guys so much!!!

No problem...i am sure it will solve ur problem. Even a well applied very cheap silicon thermal paste and perfectly seated heatsink can give you good performance in the long run.

And no need to be worried about being a fool not knowing about thermal paste...mistakes gives us the knowledge and experience...even i don't know myself about the thermal paste when i take apart the cpu heatsink first time for cleaning and removed it thinking dust. But as soon as i started pc again i knew with the temps that's something was wrong and it's gonna blow at 98...but luckily it didn't and i bought thermal paste available too cheap for $0.50 ~15ml. And it was back at 39 right away.

Where did you find it for $.50? I could only find it for $10.

Branded high quality thermal paste are available for $6-$10 which comes in an injector, great for high end expensive chips. I got the paste from local IT Market where these kind of things are available for very cheap for service centers but it's quality isn't comparable to branded but gets the job done easily & comes in 10x quantity so you can reapply many times.

Yup, I probably just forgot '~'

Ok, thanks for the help! The thermal paste ended up working out (thank goodness, I would have died if it was the power supply) but I'm probably going to invest into a new fan :)
