My computer randomly crashes/freezes but the screen doesn't go black it just stays still, like this
http://puu.sh/iW649/f05394d21f.jpg as you can see the mouse is just still and it cannot move and the keyboard doesn't reply. The audio also freezes.
My specs are AMD FX 9370 with the H100i, MSI 290x, Sabertooth 990fx r2.0, 8gb corsair RAM, EVGA 1200w PSU, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD. Any suggestions on why my computer is doing this?

You need to give us a ton more information. What version of windows? What drivers have you installed for the hardware you listed? What are you doing when this happens? What programs do you have running? What does the windows event log show??

Chances are that a process is using your disk heavily. When I was recovering my HDD using PhotoRec it just made everything freeze even when my system was NOT so fast.

Your system is great, just check for antivirus programs or any other program which is using the disk heavily.

Ctrl+Alt+Delete > Start Task Manager > Performance > Resource Monitor > Disk.
Except System process, tell us anything which uses your HDD/SSD.

I also agree to tigerg, we need more info about this case.

I am running windows 7 64bit Professional, I have the latest drivers for all of my components and I am usually playing Runescape or Heroes of the Storm, but my computer has gotten worse, last night it crashed whilst I was watching Netflix and nothing else was open. I always have Skype, Plex and Puush open. The windows event log shows that when the computer crashed, 'The Windows Search service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 8 times'. This morning there was a critical on the event viewer, 'The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly'.

Can this be related to Search Indexer? It adds all files on all drives of your computer to the search index for faster search results.

Start > (Type in Search Bar) "Search Index" > Change how Windows Searches.

It'll show a window saying "448,000 Files added to index" (Can be any no. of files)
And it'll also say "Indexing speed is reduced due to user activity".
Just pause it and continue.

And also make sure you aren't overclocking too much.

All it says is 'indexing isn't running'
