My Computer performance

My specifications are


Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8400 CPU @ 2.80GHz

Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti

RAM 16 GB (2x 8GB) (One of them is HyperX and I don't know the other one)

Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (build 17134), 64-bit


Still my PC is always laggy all the time. How do I solve this lag?

You need to monitor temps if you aren't already. Sounds like your cpu is thermal throttling. Does it do EVERYTHING slow? Are you using a hdd from an older system? Did you do a fresh install of windows with usb or cd?

I don't think that's the issue. It's laggy since the startup. And it's a new HDD. It was brand new when I built my pc.

It's the mix of RAM you have. Get a 2x8gb RAM kit in the fastest you can afford.

If you're not willing or able to invest in a new kit I suggest you try removing one stick and seeing if the performance improves.

I tried that yesterday while installing. There's no noticable change. Btw can chat on discord if you have a discord account? Mine is Fatality#1999.

Since you don't want to try suggestions that might actually fix it but cost money, you can try these for free. Disassemble the entire PC. Reassemble and apply new thermal paste between CPU and cooler. Next, perform a clean install of Windows and all necessary drivers.

There may be more than one problem here, so that the negative impact of using mixed ram is masked by some other problems. It is really not a good idea.

No other damge, right?

no other damage, they may work but they are not guaranteed to unless they are sold as a matched kit. try booting with each stick and test them with Memtest86

So performance is the only issue. Is there any way to make them work in case they aren't?

no. if they don't work well you might consider an upgrade to a 2x8gb matched set.
