i have a gigabyte 970a-ud3p its only 3 months old but since the other day it will not turn on. when i push the power button it turns on for a split second then off again. when i hold it it flashes on the first click and when i let go the exact same thing on the second click. it all seems to have started from when i installed my new cooler. it was fine before that but the board had developed the clasic gigabyte double boot problem but bar that it was ok. i put the old cooler back in and it made no differance. removed every single thing and all the componenets were fine apart from the motherboard. i took the prosessor out and it still did it which really worrys me becasue thier should be no power flowing through the board if thier isnt a prosessor in it. if anyone knows what the warranty details of this board are from gigabyte i would love to see what they are. so if anyone could help i would greatly appreciate it.i have a AMD FX 6350 16gb of 1866mhz kingston hyper X 600Wat psu and a gigabyte GTX 750ti graphics card.

Thankyou for your reply but i did that and no change still the split second life then death. ive rebuilt the whole pc twice over and its not shorting anywhere. i have tried running it ontop of carboard it did its instant life then off again. ive removed all the hardware and tried to run with a single stick of ram and the cpu but no change tried the other stick no change. it apears to be doomed and im probably going to need a replacement. thanks for your help though but it made no differance to the stupid thing. i think whats happened is thier was a short and it blasted the mother board and thats killed it because when i first put it back in the case and powered her up after installing the cooler it required the gigabyte double boot as per usual but when i did it the second time it came to life for about 10 seconds and thier was a bios beep but just as it beeped it cut out and hasnt seen life since.

Well its ok now thanks for your ideas but i rebuilt it completely for the fifth time over and this time i removed the backplate from the cpu and put it back on again. it still did its on off instantly thing again but i stuck a flathead screwdriver in where the header for the power switch is and spammed it. it kept doing its thing but i sped up the spamming and it eventually tuned over and came to life. and has worked flawlessly for the past few hours. thanks for your help but i managed to sort it by spamming the header.
