specs - rtx 4080, i9 13900kf, 32gb ram, asus strix z790e gaming wifi, power supply evga 1000 gt 80 plus gold (came with pc ), 2tb nvme Kingston snv2000G. The desktop is about a year and a half now.

windows 11 home

Recently my desktop has had issues with applications randomly crashing and just closing. The computer over all has been giving so many problems. I have tried many things.

  • running commands for corrupt files in cmd (most of the time just says it cannot fix them)
  • tried windows trouble shooting
  • tried reseting windows (doing it through the settings did not work it would either not do anything or say that no changes were made)
  • took out the cmos battery (issues persisted)
  • tried creating a recovery drive (could not set it up on the desktop itself because it would not detect and when I set up the drive using another computer and tried it on my desktop that failed as well)
The last thing that I tried was just doing a fresh install off of a usb drive using another computer and it that successful reset the computer, but the problem persists (applications just randomly crash and refuses to do any kind of updates or drivers update. For example, I have tried installing the latest nvidia drivers and it just says failed no matter what method of installing drivers I tried)

I have had troubles with this desktop in the past where applications would crash and and my computer black screen and the fans would go full blast and after buying a new motherboard and trying a million things it ended up just being the 2VHPWR cable.

Does anyone have any suggestions, could it be the cable again or is it something else I have also used intels recommended bios settings for the cpu and the problem still exists. Does anyone have any suggestions or tests I can run.

here is are the reliability history reports

Update your post to include motherboard: make, model, version.

Windows: Version and edition?

Questions:

1) PSU: make, model, wattage, age, condition (original to build, new, used, refurbished)?

2) Disk drive(s) make, model, capacity, how full? (Noted a 2 TB nvme...)

3) Any error codes? There are a number tools that can be used for troubleshooting. For now, just take a look in Reliability History/Monitor. What error codes, warnings, and even informational events are being captured and logged? Look for any that occurred just before or at the time of a crash, black screen, etc..

If possible, take a screenshots showing the full Reliability History/Monitor screen and post the screenshots here via imgur (www.imgur.com). One screenshot with Days and one screenshot with Weeks.

Im sorry I forgot to mention in the post that I did run a MemTest86 in my Asus Bios and it did 3 almost 4 passes with no errors. Tonight I can let it run all night and see if there is any change.
