My computer will not play cds/dvds

Can't you open your drive at all?
Any weird sounds, lights?
Try opening with cmd. (start>run>cmd , type E:\, or whatever letter it has on yours)
Do U get any error messages?
Can U see anything related in Event viewer to it? (control panel>comp. management)

To add question to me's useful list:

Did the laptop every play them?

Do you mean that it can't read them at all, or just can't play certain content, like movies?

Does it have a DVD player?

Check your cd/dvd connection, If connection is ok then it could be damaged.
