Ok, so I wanted the stability of windows 2000, is that a crime? My computer is a p3 450Mhz, asus mobo, viper v77o TNT2 vid card, and soundblaster live sound card. The problem is that my vid card drivers that shipped with my system don't work with win2k, and diamond has no support. Thus I downloaded the nvidia detonator XP drivers, only to have all games that use openGL or direct3D lock up looping a sound. I had this trouble before and had to set my AGP apperature size, but I don' think this is the same problem. Any help is appeciated with the exception of people telling me what I should have purchased instead, I didn't know better!

Did you try installing the latest DirectX 8.1 from Microsoft?
Also did you install SP2 for Win2k?

Or just use the Win2k built in drivers for it? Or bite it and buy a 40$ g2 mx.

I ran into the similar problem with my TNT2 on Windows XP. If I installed the Detonator XP drivers, Windows XP would give me a blue screen upon start up.

As I later discovered, the TNT2 does NOT like the new Detonator XP drivers. The newer cards are okay with them, but not the TNT2. My suggestion would be to get some older nvidia drivers that will function on Windows 2000, or use the ones that come with Windows 2000.

You can get some of the older drivers on:

I think any of the older Detonators (14.70 and below) should work okay.
