My computer won't detect ethernet hardware. pls help!

I recently installed Windows XP SP3 on my new pc but the problem is it won't detect my ethernet port. I then decided to install a different OS (Ubuntu) and it works just fine. What am I doing wrong or what do I need to do to solve this?

You need to install the Windows XP network drivers from your computer manufacturer's website. If they don't have any XP drivers for your model, you can't run XP on it unless you are prepared to search the internet until you find an XP network driver that works on your model.
