My computer won't power on

So I am building a PC and the first time I couldn't get it to work and I was pretty sure it was the motherboard so I ordered a new one. Now I built a test run outside the case and everything went fine. But when I installed everything inside the case nothing happened. It's the EXACT same thing that happened last time. I really need help here because I don't know what's wrong.

Make sure the motherboard has been installed properly and only mounted on the standoffs required for taking motherboard mounting screws. There should be no extra standoffs and there shouldn't be any other metallic object between the motherboard and the case, otherwise the motherboard may be shorting to earth.

Check that DIMM's, video card, and ALL required cables are inserted properly. It may require removing some suspect cables/components and re-inserting them to be certain of proper seating.

yea still no luck. The computer doesn't seem to turn on, only the green light comes on. I also did the paper clip test for the power supply and the fan spun.

Confirm that the basic system runs outside of the case, but once components installed within the case the computer doesn't boot? If so, this confirms that the components are basically working! But it still suggests that there is a short somewhere, most likely something touching the case.

It will require even more thorough and patient searching for live parts which should not be touching the case (or other metallic parts).
