My computer won't start, but fans will spin.

I have been building a pc and when I press the power the fans spin for a sec than stop but nothing else happens. I have checked all cords/wires are plugged in correctly and there is a green light in the top left of the board. I was just curious if I am missing something petty and stupid or if my motherboard is bad? Thanks for your help ahead of time.

Whats the specs / mobo / cpu etc?

My mobo is an Hp z400 workstation, my cup is a Xeon 5650, I have a Gt 730 1gb ddr5 graphics card, and 8 gb of ram, and finally a corsair 500watt psu

Does this mobo have 4 or 6 ram slots?

It looks like the 6 slot mobo is the only mobo that supports that CPU
