To all Americans:

My condolences for the terrible tragedy yesterday. I feel your pain,
and I hope it won't mess your country up beyond repair. If you can
make it for just a little over four more years, I'm sure someone will
arrive to set things right.

Well at least the minimum wage won't be raised to 8$ an hour.

$8/hour isn't that high... it's higher than that in San Francisco, for
example. :)

That should work. Let them blow themselves to hell and then you won't
need to worry about it.

Just in case you seriously contemplate such a course of action you might
want to consider the devastating effects of similar isolationist
policies before each of the two world wars.

There has to be a medium line between said course of action and going and
taking over Iraq one day because you'd been itching to do so

I'm not sure about you Chas, but I think Luc was being sarcastic. I could

Yeah... I would say sarcastic is definitely not the right word for

Oh now I'm curious. If you betray my position of authority, I will make a
constitutional amendment defining an AGSC poster as not Crazy Zealot

Oh don't be silly. Presidents(anyone, actually, unless they have the
major support of congress) can't just make constitutional amendments
saying whattever they want... :)

*ponders*

You know, WWI and WWII weren't really the result of the isolationist
policies of the United States. It's not like we could have just waltzed
into Europe and gone "hey... stop all the fighting now or else."

That would have been silly. And unwelcome and unproductive besides.

Yes and WW I was caused by defense treaties, IIRC

That wasn't what I was trying to say.

No - but you could have saved us (Britain) an enormous number of lives
and a huge amount of resources by getting involved when we needed you
and not just when you were dragged in by injudicious hostile action by
our enemies.

But there were other considerations.

By delaying your entry into WW1 you were able to replace us as the
world's major power.

By delaying your entry into WW2 you were able to make a small fortune
out of us by leasing materials to us for which we were still making
payments 30 years later. It's a good job we managed to hold out until
the Japanese forced your hand or we'd both have lost (us earlier and you
eventually).
