My corsair sp120 fans don't light up

I recently built a new pc and I installed 2 sp120 fans, unfortunately these fans were an expansion kit and didn't contain a fan hub nor a controller.
I found a bought the hub without the controller and I tried to light the fans via the corsair link but corsair link doesn't even recognize the fans and so I still can't light them, so I'm stuck with 2 turned off RGB fans and its really frustrating..

First off, are you sure you have the SP120 RGB LED Variant?

And not the 'standard' SP120s:

I believe the RGB variant(s) are intended to be used with the hub and controller..... so with only the hub, I don't think you'll have the RGB/LED control..... I think that's what communicates with Corsair link

Yup I have the RGB ones, I accidentally managed to light one of the fans earlier but I restarted my pc and it was off again :/

How are they connected? As in, fans to hub with 3or4pin connector, hub to PSU with molex/SATA (I assume)?

Is anything connected to a USB (likely 2.0) header on your motherboard? If not, I doubt there's any way to actually control the LEDs.... as that usually requires a USB connection.

fans are connected with 3 pins to my motherboard and 4 pins the hub one in slot one the other in slot two
