My "Corsair TX-M Series 650 Watt 80 Plus Gold Certified PSU (CP-9020132-UK) Hybrid Modular Power Supply Unit - Black", is not working after one loud sound. 4 hour earlier it had on loud short circuit like sound and burning smell and turned off, but it restarted after that. But after second sound there is no power, fan does not spin whatsoever.
This happened in only 20 days after buying (It has warranty of 7 years, funnily). All specifications show this as very good PSU with all japanese caps and what not not to mention heavy price tag, but this happened.
Earlier I had Seasonic MII 620 which just stopped unexpectedly while running and after that fan spin for only 2 seconds. After reading on forums I bought this Corsair PSU. Is Corsair a bad brand ? Can someone please give a short explanation of what possibly may have happened.
Earlier my RAM failed in 1 month, than HDD in 2 years. I traced faster failure rate to small mini cabinet heating, so bought cooler master mid tower and now my system is running very cool.
But everywhere I see excellent reviews for Corsair TXM and RMX series. All my wires get power from APC UPS RS 1100, so power fluctuation is not an issue.
As a precaution I have changed power cable to PSU. Is something else risky thing I am not looking. I do not want another fried PSU just after buying, (or this was just some one off bad luck).
I would have bought EVGA/Seasonic Focus but both are not available on amazon India (always shows unavailable, may be due to Corona). Only corsair is available.

Should I buy that model again or this is better (though RM model not RMX), "Corsair RM650 80 Plus Gold Power Supply (CP-9020194-UK) - 10 Year Warranty - 2019 Model"

Solution
I searched later and Corsair forums are filled with complainsts of TX series "Loud pop sound and burn". While corsair support keep denying it, TX series is good on paper only and is very unreliable. My Corsair GS 600 though ran 6 years without trouble previously from 2007 to 2014.

Where has Corsair support keep denying it?

And where did you see this in the Corsair forums? (I'm in there every day)

There is a lot code range of products (from end of last year to beginning of this year) from Great Wall where there was a containment in the insulator pads used under one of the diodes causing that diode to fail.

Most of the affected products were SF, which is why Corsair did the voluntary exchange program for those users. Corsair...

I think you have a much bigger issue than buying(possibly) faulty PSU's. The wiring in your house might be unable to handle the power of your PSU. You might want to have a certified electrician come over to take a look at the wiring in your house and if you lack a grounding wire(and socket) to the entire house.
Thanks. I will definitely check with an electrician first thing. My previous PSU ran 6 years in same house, so low chance of that. But still as precaution I will get the check done. While possibility of a Corsair PSU getting fried up is also there. Also whole power to my Pc goes through UPS only which should have a voltage regulator also.
Also other equipment are working flawlessly in this house for years till now.

Exactly same thing happened to my newly built workstation. This time the PSU was Corsair TX 850 M. What was your problem ? PSU or electrical wiring ?
Still to check Electrical wiring. PSU is already busted. No signs of life. Will see if can send for RMA. Mean while got "Corsair RM650", since Seasonic focus (I like it more since last seasonic performed well for 6 years, corsair GX600 also performed for 7 years well before that though) is unavailable on amazon.in . Hoping RM650 will run some good years. I only want to read and play some games on PC without any headache, and since last upgrade there has been too much trouble. It keeps increasing my stress and expenditure. Would have built 2 systems on repeat expenditures overall. May be I will get Ryzen 3600, if 8 core Ryzen cheaper option isfew more years to release, though I can play any game I want right now.

Looks like I got a defective TX650M too! Mine is almost a month old and it made a loud pop sound but works normally. I wouldn't risk it and I requested an RMA.

I bought "Corsair RM650 80 Plus Gold Power Supply (CP-9020194-UK) - 10 Year Warranty - 2019 Model" as I did not wanted further trouble and just wanted to play some games peacefully. It is working good for past month. I would have preferred Seasonic Focus but it is still unavailable duet o Corona pandemic. Seasonic SII while good is too old model. My Seasonic MII (same as SII but modular) ran 6 years flawlessly 2014 to 2020.

After reading all these I was really convinced about lower quality of Corsair PSU ( a ridiculous notion as they if they are seasonic then seasonic also should have same problem). As I mentioned my earlier GS ran satisfactorily and current RM650x is also running without trouble, but you know that immediate failure of a expensive top rated PSU shakes the user and then when he see lots of posts on that on google search.
I admire that you do not hide your affiliation with Corsair, and far more I admire your incredible knowledge on PSU's which I keep reading whenever I search for PSU.
I really do not have any problem with Corsair if my current PSU keeps performing well. I just said what happened to me and how I felt. In the end after spending good money one just wants to play some games peacefully, else my laptop is more than enough for anything except gaming and code compiling.

Did you see the dates on those threads?

You're referring to threads from over 10 years ago.

Over a span of over 10 years.

So 10 years ago, someone had a TX fail, which isn't even made by the same OEM as today's TX-M, and you're counting that against them?

Seriously?

Yes I saw the date. Amazon review is very recent and my own unit failed in June 2020. So problem can be said running till 10 years (OK I see that they changed OEM, but problem was the same). You could say that I am overreacting also, but it was a bad experience. Again I reiterate that GS and RM series are working fine for me. I am not the one to complain easily, but without a PSU computer does not boot up and it becomes a serious issue which affects a lot. Add to it that getting parts delivered is a bit more tough during these Corona Virus issue.
I would have directly bought Seasonic Focus due to Seasonic MII previous stellar performance but again due to Corona Virus it is showing unavailable in amazon for my area.
