How do i fix a keyboard that causes over current ? is it repairable or should I throw it out ?

How do I test it to see if it actually is causing over current ? My keyboard goes off and HWINFO reports that the keyboard causes over current.

Solution
Over current - maybe a short circuit in the keyboard?

Inspect the USB port - any signs of metal to metal contact between USB plug and case?

Have you tried other USB ports? Try using a USB extension cable between computer's USB port(s) and keyboard plug.

Keyboard: age, condition, heavily used?

Try another known working USB keyboard on your computer.

Try your keyboard on another known working computer.

Determine if the problem follows the keyboard or stays with your computer.
