My cpu hits 56c when gaming. Is that too high?

phenom II x4 955 black edition stock.

I read somewhere that the max temperature on this chip is 60c. Since I hit 56c is my chip in danger of overheating?

First off, you cant really believe that temp, it's never been calibrated, so it's probably inaccurate.
If your system is crashing at that temp, then yah, it's too hot. If not, you are good.

My Q6600 hits 50-55c and its fine but its max tep is 71c. Yours is 62c.

But its really fine as long as it doesn't go beyond 62c you will be fine.

I never installed the stock cooler that came with my AMD 955 BE. I use the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus and have never sen my core temps go past 54 C under full load video editing software or even under stress testing Prime 95.

I do get crashes sometimes from battlefield 2. But it's weird because thats the only game that will crash to the desktop. Never had any other game crash on me before.

Then I will venture to say your crashes are probably software related - buggy game or driver issues particular to that game. Check for patches to the game and latest drivers to your videocard.

dont listen to them that is very dangerous you shoud aim to keep it cool and keep it 10-15c of the limit on the chip

BF2 is known to crash...google BF2 CTD...tons of reports. the most i can OC with BF2 is 10% or it will crash
