My CPU Idle temp is hotter than when it is under load/gaming

So i recently have built my computer about 2 months ago and started to do a little overclocking on my CPU. It's stock speed is 3.2 GHz. I decided to check out its idle temperature and saw that it is 50-55 degrees Celsius. I decided to run a stability test and try out some games on it to see what temperature i get. It was 42c and below. This is really weird and I am trying to figure out why it is happening. Any ideas?

ALSO: AMD overdrive has been monitoring my CPU around 55c. But, when i use another program such as Core-Temp, my idle temps are around 16-30c. Does this have to do with a faulty software?

Note: I have a small history in overclocking, all i did was overclock it to 3.2 to 3.5 (which is pretty small)

My CPU - AMD FX-8320E
My CPU cooler - Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
My GPU - AMD Radeon R9 280x
My monitoring software - AMD overdrive (core-temp occasional)

Thanks in advance

That's normal. AMD overdrive reports thermal margin - the temperature remaining until the cpu gets too hot to work. When I idle I get around 45-65c thermal margin and under load I get 20-35c thermal margin. Was confused about this at first too btw. (First answer on Tom's!)
