Similar thing on mine- BIOS reports CPU of (say) 50deg, system temp 32deg.
Sandra 2004 reports them the wrong way around, i.e. CPU 32, Mobo 50.

Check your BIOS.

you are reading the system temp not the cpu one methinks :)
check the settings
winbond 1 is the system temp
winbond 2 is cpu

Nope MBM says winbond 2 is my cpu sensor :)

Windbond 2 is my case my temps seem right, were are the inbond temps
taken from anway, just call me stupid and ugly if you want :)

MBM could guess wrong. I had to check all of the many choices of sensors it
offered and choose the two that were obviously the system and cpu, the cpu
being the warmer. You can check in your bios to see what the initial idle
temps really are.

What is all the fuss about. My XP idles at less than 2C over case temps.
And my Athlon 64 temps run about the same as case temp. The XP has an
$8 cooler and the 64 has the retail cooler. Now, that's using Lvcool on
the XP and powernow on the 64.(lowering vcore to 1.3v and speed by about
300Mhz), but who cares.🙂

Give us the readings from *both* sensors. I agree with Geoff, and if your
other reading turns out higher than 25C, you can be pretty sure the higher
is the CPU and the lower is the "case" temperature. Ambient 18C, case 25C,
CPU ?C sounds logical.

Is it a recent release of MBM5? The newer release has a lot of preset's for
about 1,000 boards (it downloads them from a website after install so it's
constantly updated) and you select it during install. I was reading the
wrong thing on my mobo for a while, I had to untick a box in 'advanced',
then close and restart MBM and then there were several different options
available for sensors. One of them was the on-chip diode. "Winbond" sensors
aren't on-die, they're on-board, so the hottest you're going to get is
socket. (My socket currently 10°C cooler than die). The on-chip diode is
'LM-90 Remote" or something similar in MBM set-up on my machine.
