My CPU is overloading whenever I play a game, watch a video, or practically when I do anything.

Hey there,

So my CPU is being overloaded whenever I play games (Diablo III, Overwatch, League of Legends, etc...). It happens at random occurrences, but once it does happen it sticks around for hours and my frames drop to ~10 FPS regardless of the game. My ping is totally normal during this time (~30ms). This also includes when I do things such as watch youtube videos or run multiple applications at once.

This link shows my CPU being overloaded when I am watching a youtube video: http://imgur.com/a/twiBl

And this link shows my task manager at the same time:

As you can see I am not running a lot at all, yet my CPU is struggling, a lot.

Things I've already tried:

  • Alternating the power source
Running Malware Scans both in safe mode and regularly
    Updating Drivers
Checking to make sure I am not running off of the integrated graphics card
Opening my PC and ensuring all the connections are intact

I have no idea what could be causing this and am pretty fed up at this point. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I have a Intel Core i5-6600K processor
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 GPU
750W PSU
MSI 2170A Gaming M5 MOBo
and 16GB of RAM

Thank you to everyone,

Drew

The problem existed before I had the CAM software and persists even when it isn't running.

Running or not, it can cause problems. Try uninstalling it.

I uninstalled the CAM software, restarted my computer, and just played Diablo III as a test run. I only had 25 frames without performing any actions, and 10-15 FPS when I was actually trying to play. Thank you for the suggestion but it doesn't seemed to have helped
