hi, i am having a problem with my CPU and had a lot of problems recenetly with the whole computer.
i have an ASUS commando motherboard, and an E6850 3.00 ghz processor
i had a lot of problems including a cpu init problem, anyways intel RMA'd my processor and i have a new one
now it is only showing a speed of 2400 instead of 3000
what could be the reason, and what should i do to get the speed back

i just cleared my CMOS because my computer was not booting and had a computer store telling me my processor is not compatible with my mobo but asus have it in the list and they were the ones to let me return and rma my processor
any help would be appreciated

sorry just saw the stickied ones about running cpu at full speed
if a moderator can delete my question id appreciate it

probably is the speed-step feature. Speed step reduces cpu speed when is not doing something demanding like gaming. Probably your cpu is working at full speed when you play games or do video encoding but when its idle it slows at 2,4ghz.
You can always turn speed step off in the bios
