My Creative S750 setup died. What about Logitech Z906?

Hey guys,

I had my S750 for 5 years and my sub gave up.
I found a few months old used Logitech Z906 system in a good price.

Is it worth it ? I was thinking of using my Creative S750 satellites(70watt per channel, 8ohm) instead of the ones from Z906 (67watt per channel, 4ohm) with the Z906 sub. and console.

Will that work or am i going to damage my sub ?

Thank you !

Thank you for the reply. So it won't damage the z906 sub.

Any other suggestions, in terms of "fixing" my S750 or replacing them ? I was told to look for external amp + receiver but the cost is too high for me.

If you don't mind buying used equipment, you can end up with some very good amplifiers under 200$ (even cheaper, if you can settle to a 5.1 setup instead of the original 7.1 one):
http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR605-Receiver-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B000OBLARC/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1438129054&sr=1-1&keywords=receiver&refinements=p_n_feature_two_browse-bin%3A1267495011 , way better and with way more input choices than the original S750.

There are some caveats however: the above receiver is rated at 90W RMS / 8 Ohm per channel, while the satellites are largely overrated at 70W / 8 Ohm (they have 25W RMS tops), so you'll end up frying them in no time (and the fact that the satellites cannot go lower than 200Hz is not helping either). Also, you'll need to add an active subwoofer (or an additional amplifier to use with the old Creative sub).

How your S750 got damaged? It may be a quick fix (a blowed-up fuse due to a power surge or a broken power cable/plug), a fairly easy fix (changing the filter capacitors or some power transistors from the output stages) or an over-the-head fix (an IC from the logic board). All satellites are still in good working condition?

Satellites are in perfect working condition. So about the sub, I sent it to an electronic engineer, who has managed to fix me a lot of badly damaged stuff. Basically the problem is that, according to him, the glue that Creative used in the subwoofer is conductive. Due to high temperatures in Cyprus in Summer time (40 degrees celcius 😛) the glue melted over the years and it shorts circuit.

I have also tried changing the fuse my self . I managed to turn them on again , but after a few seconds the fuse was blown up.

Another issue that I have is that i live in Cyprus, so Amazon/Ebay is not an option for such bulky stuff.

Thank you for your reply
