Hello i recently purchased some new parts for an AMD APU Custom build using the following
computer parts:

AMD A10-5800K Trinity Quad-Core 3.8GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket FM2 100W Desktop APU

MSI A78M-E45 FM2+ / FM2 AMD A78 (Bolton D3) SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D

Seagate Barracuda ST1000DM003 1TB 7200 RPM 64MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive Bare Drive

XFX TS Series P1550SXXB9 550W ATX12V 2.2 & ESP12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS Bronze Certified Active

i have connected all the parts together but when i turn the computer on the case lights and fans turn on but no signal is being detected by the monitor. i have it connected using a DVI cable and a HDMI cable but there is no signal from either.

can anybody please give me some helpful advice on what to do next?

As the person above stated, remove a RAM stick, turn on the PC, and if it doesnt turn on, put the removed RAM stick back and remove another one. Repeat this process until every RAM stick has been removed.

Also, make sure your RAM is fitted in its slot. You have to press it down a bit.

i have tried removing ram sticks so there is only one on the main slot. i pressed hard until it clicked but still nothing. something i would like to point out is that most motherboards I've worked with have an led light on it. Either this one doesnt or it hasn't lit up at all. i also noticed that the key board i have plugged in will not light up if i press caps lock or the numlock.

This is the first time i use AMD. i only have an intel i7 and theres no way that fits in the socket. all these pieces are brand new also. if the cpu fan and case fans all spin/light up and does that mean the motherboard can still be broken or its the CPU? the mother board also came with a speaker but that does not make any beeps whatsoever.

You've used an FM2 CPU on an FM2+ board. Although there should be no issue, this could be a reason. The Bios might not be fetecting the CPU. Are you using the right connector for CPU power? If it's 8 pin then you need to use an EPS+12v cable, if it's 4 pin then you need to use an ATX 12v cable

The manufacturers website says it supports the following processors:
• AMD® Socket FM2+ A-Series/Athlon™ Processors
* Also supports FM2 A-Series/Athlon™ Processors

the processors that i am using is an A-series APU that uses an FM2 Socket. The CPU uses 4 Pin connector & the PSU has the both of these types(i used the 4 pin). I Haven't yet checked to see what happens when i remove all the rams(i tried one ram in every one of the 4 slots so far), i'm starting to think this might be defective Motherboard but i'm not sure how to know for sure.

Hey! You have done everything correctly. The problem may be with your powersupply. Check the back of the powersupply to see if there is a switch to change the voltage to 115. I'm not sure if every powersupply has this switch on it but the problem is the powersupply. The motherboard is not dead as it powered your lights and fans. The problem isn't the ram. If you have the ram in the right slots and it fits it isn't the problem even though most people will say because you have no signal it must be the ram. So check your powersupply. Also make sure you have connected 2 power cables into the motherboard. The 24pin connector and the 4/8 pin connector and not just the 24pin connector.

Note: If there is a debug light switch on motherboard and it is not lighting up it is because you do not have the 4/8 pin power connector plugged in

If you live in the UK then leave the PSU on 230v, do not switch it to 115v or explosions will happen... I have experience with this :S Have you checked to see if the RAM is compatible with the board?

My new PSU doesn't have that switch(most don't anymore) also i live in the US so 110 is what it is supposed to be. I checked with a different PSU that is rated at 850Watt and i know that one works because it is powering my i7 Rig.

Have you checked to see if the RAM is compatible with the board?

The Ram is DDR3 1600(PC3 12800) 240pin and the Motherboard supports it(DDR3 2133/1866/1600/1333).

I have tried the computer with no ram, hdd, dvd drive attached just motherboard & psi and no beeps whatsoever.

i'm not sure if this is relevant but when i plug in the keyboard pressing caps lock, num lock does not cause any lights to go on on the keyboard.

Those are the speeds that the CPU NB can support. I'm talking about the specific DIMM's that the motherboard supports from different manufacturers.

I looked at this site: https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/memory/?compatible_with=msi-motherboard-a78me45
And the ram that i bought is compatible with this motherboard.

I don't believe that this mother board has an LED light to check the status. it only had a speaker that had to be plugged in to the mother board. no beeps ever came out. also i make the solution by accident but i have returned the mother board and will update this thread if that was the problem
