My Dell Dimension 9100 crashed after about two weeks of the sound card malfunctioning. The power button blinks orange. I removed the Creative Labs Model Number SB0410 sound card from the computer. The computer boots up great and works great without sound. I purchased a new card from Dell and installed it. The computer crashed again. Thinking that the new card was faulty, I replaced the card with another new card. The computer crashes again. I changed the PCI slot and the same problem occurs. Help!!!!!

Thanks for the help. I did install the correct driver, the same problem occurred. I replaced the driver with one supplied by Dell, the same problem occurred. I did activate the on-board sound in the BIOS set-up. The computer will not boot. Once I change the on-board sound back to off, the computer will boot-up and function as long as the sound card is not installed.

When you turn ON the on-board sound, de-activate the Creative sound.

New development; I set the on-board sound in Bios to off, installed the sound card in the original PCI slot location (5). Upon boot-up I installed the latest software. I placed a music CD in the CD player and proceeded to play the CD in windows media player. The computer works great. I then attempted to play music that is stored in "MY Music" file located in "My Documents". I also used windows media player. The computer crashed after about 15 seconds. I can reboot and used the computer with sound except when I attempt to play music stored on my computer. Any suggestions?
