My dell inspiron laptop does not shut down till i press the power button.

When i shut down normally the screen goes black but the lights are still on
i tried disabling the turn on fast satartup but it still doesnt shut down
please help

Hi, how do you shutdown the laptop? Do you click Shut down in the Start menu, or you push the power button?

I shut it down using the start menu. My laptop is windows 8

When I press the power button the system hibernates it doesn't shut down
I have to press the power button because the lights dont go off

Go on control panel > power options > system settings and disable fast boot. I ahd he same issue on windws 8

i have same problem with my hp1000 notebook pc . i followed steps ,disabled fast startup but still having same problem ... what should i do somebody please help ....
