my disk drive is not showing up in my computer win 8

i have no dvd icon in "my pc" !!!!! i have it installed and it has power and a good cable. i went to some regedit thing and tried to fix it from some website, and it didnt say what the description said it had in method 1... {Link[see fix it instructions here]Link} .(i coulnd see the reg files at all and when i looked further, i found a folder that said "properties" and i denied me access for some reason!!!!) in method 3 i did everything and when i pasted the line of code it said access denied!!! i mean like wtf!!??!!.. my bios recognizes the drive and it even installed the windows 8 that im currently on. tell me why this is happening!!!

Did you put a disk in it? By default Windows 8 hides removable media drives that currently have no media in them.
