My display does really weird stuff

My screen just randomly gets these weird line. It's only my primary screen and the first time every restart it appears, if I shut my screen off and on again, id goes away for about 1-2 min, after which the screen restart isn't effective. It happens roughly 3-4 hours (maybe more) after start up, and it's happened 3 times so far. Rebooting solves the issue, at least temporarily. Weirdly, it only happens on one screen, and when I take the VGA cable out of my GPU, the lines move to the other screen (which then becomes the primary one). The color depends on the background I had on.

Have you updated the video drivers

I'm updating the driver now. But why would it start doing this now? I've had this set up for about two years and it only started doing it three days ago.

What are the temps for the GPU? The GPU fan is working?

GPU was at 36C, right after the reboot, so I take it it wasn't overheating (It's a 7870). It hasn't happened since the driver update, so I'm hoping that that was the issue.
