So the question is pretty simple, my dogs tail swept the insides of my pc when I wasnt looking, can this damage the components? no cables were connected so it wasnt getting power. the cpu was exposed because the fan is not installed. can this cause damage?

I really doubt it caused a problem.....especially of the machine was off.
If it was off.....about the only damage I would expect would be mechanical.....and I would think your dog would have to wag his tail really hard for that to happen.
Even if the machine was on.....the dogs tail isn't really much of a conductor....so I think it would probably be fine even if it was on.

Hi @Throwaway9181

Chances no, but hard to tell. What type of dog? lol.. A pit bull's tail is 1000% muscle whereas a labs tail is muscle with a good amount of softness due to fur. 😀 Look around the inside of the case for any bits of metal & plastic and then take a good look at your mobo, (use a flashlight if you need to) looking to see if anything looks "Broken off" Take pics if you find areas you're not sure of and then post them here.

Sure fire way to tell is to put everything back together and turn the PC on. If it starts and runs normally, theres your answer. However if it doesn't boot....

Let us know how it goes!

Hahaha - I had exactly this happen while building my PC - was almost finished, and left the side open - found my full size collie lying beside it slapping his tail around - very furry guy - answer = nothing. Despite strands of hair all over the place...
I think he would be pretty good at cleaning the dust out now... :)
