Hello,

When i check my Download and upload speeds they are 8 for Download, and upload is 1 Mbps, but when im actually downloading a game, its at 900-600 kbps (yes, i made sure to check the download settings on the clients to make sure they weren't capped and they weren't) so why is this happening?

i also don't know much about how internet works, so plz explain.

Thank you!

The smax speed of your internet is 8 mbps which is 8 mega bits per second. What you see when you are downloading is that speed converted to KBps, which is kilo byte per second. 8 mbps max is 1000 KBps max. With the overhead accounted for, 600-900 KBps is very good and you are getting what you have been promised.

I believe you're misunderstanding the reply. ISPs give download/upload specs in mega*bits*. Generally speaking, when you're downloading an actual file, you're seeing a speed in mega*bytes*. It takes eight bits to make a byte, so you should expect max download speeds in megabytes to be approximately 1/8th of the rated download speed in megabits.

ohhhhh, ok so theres a differnce between megabytes and mega bits, i tohught they were the same, thanks guys!:ange:
