My DVD drive on Windows 7 won't recognize one specific DVD (Hobbit 2).

It works for every other DVD, CD or software disc. When I look in the "Computer" section of WIndows 7, normally a DVD or CD will show the title of the disc the drive is mounted to. But not this Hobbit 2.

The Hobbit 2 DVD shows in every other DVD player in the house, PC or stand-alone.

Am I missing some simple setting?

Odd.
If other discs work in your DVD player, and you've also tested the Hobbitt 2 DVD in other machines that doesn't leave much to test.

The DVD might be slightly scratched and not quite working with your PC setup.

*The only thing I can suggest is to try using the K-LITE software if you haven't tried it (use STANDARD):

After installation, make sure it loads the new media player.

Thanks for the reply. But not sure that installing yet another media player would work, as it's the OS itself not recognizing the disc, and that operates at a more basic/lower/deeper logical level than software like the media player.

I typically use VLC and it also can't see the disc, because Windows can't see it.
