My email was compromised

Well I was wondering what u think I should do?yesterday i was hacked by someone in Vietnam. I changed my pass and I don't think he was able to access my account do to the fact I locked myself out for 12 hours. I have there IP address. Should i report this to someone or take it upon my own hands and ddos him for the next week? Any response would be gratful thanks. I also am not 100% sure if this is in the right catogori sorry.

I thought about it but what are my local police going to do about a hacker who lives in Vietnam?

Maybe try rporting it your email service provider (of the account that was hacked) and see if they may take bigger measures.
