My ethernet connection keeps freezing for a 5-10 seconds, causing me to disconnect from games.

I have been experiencing this for 2 months. I had a router/modem combo so I figured that was the issue. Bought myself a good modem and router and the issue still persists.


I changed the ethernet cable, reset the modem + router, ran full anti malware guide, changed power management settings for my network adapter, along with manually installed INF driver on network adapter.

Anybody have any ideas? my Specs are quite solid. and I upgraded my MoBo about 2 years ago.

16gb DDR3
Z97X-Gaming 7
ASUS STIX GTX 980 Ti
500 GB SSD
250 GB SSD
5 TB HDD

I do run 3 monitors but I dont believe that is the issue. I also stopped running discord on top of playing videos or music in the background to see if it that was the issue.

My first always suspicion is congestion, a common thing when you have to share bandwidth with others and/or running torrent in the background?
