Question My Ethernet port always showes a green light even if i dont have a cable plugged in?

My Ethenet is always showing green light even if i unplug the cable, i have serched everywhere but could not find a fix . Please help if anyone knows someting.

But when I connect my ethernet cable it do not get connected and no internet. And in my device manager the Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection has an danger sign on the icon. Also in my modem their is no green light on LAN when i connect LAN cable.

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

I've seen this when an ethernet port dies, especially if it is not linking. 🙁
