My external drive stopped working with my windows xp computer but when i connect

My External drive stopped with my windows xp .It dosnt show up on device manager or Disk manager . I connected it to my laptop running windows vista and it worked . It been working fine with my xp computer .Any suggestions ?

Are the USB ports working? A USB mouse or keyboard OK on the same ports?
