My external hard disk is detected but there is no data

my hard disk (WD 936GB) is detected but no data is found.however the disk shows 640GB used space n all the folders which housed the data but there is no data in them.

Hi, I had a similar problem. This is what I did. Go to Organize and then to Folder and Search optionsand then to the View tab.Now, uncheck the option Hide protected operating system files.This should work.But i don't know how to revert them back to normal files.
